Privacy policy

Effective October 16, 2026

The short version: your truck records (services, mods, mileage, photos) are stored on your iPhone and synced through your own private iCloud account. We can't see them. We collect a small amount of anonymous usage data to improve the app, and we never sell your data.

Who we are

TacomaLog ("TacomaLog", "we", "us") is an iPhone app and website at tacomalog.app, developed and operated by Tyler Beals. If you have any questions about this policy, email support@tacomalog.app.

Information in the app

Your truck records

The details you enter (your trucks, VIN, service records, costs, notes, photos, mods and mileage) are stored on your device. If iCloud is turned on for TacomaLog, they're also synced through Apple's iCloud to your other devices, in your private iCloud database. This data is protected by your Apple Account. We don't operate a server that stores it, and we can't access, read or recover it.

Anonymous usage analytics

The app uses a privacy-focused analytics service (TelemetryDeck) to understand which features are used and where the app needs work, for example "a service was logged" or "the roadmap was opened". These signals don't include your name, email, VIN, notes, photos or precise location, and they aren't used to track you across other companies' apps or websites. The identifier attached to them is anonymized before it's stored. You can turn analytics off at any time in the app's Settings.

VIN and recall lookups

If you choose to enter a VIN, the app sends it to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) public vehicle and recall services to decode your truck's details and check for open recalls. That request goes directly to NHTSA; we don't receive or store your VIN on our servers. NHTSA's own privacy practices apply to that request.

Guide feedback

When you finish a guide, you can choose to rate it and leave a short note. That feedback is sent to our server without your name or contact details so we can improve the guides. Please don't include personal information in the note.

Purchases

Upgrades are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive confirmation that a purchase was made, but never your payment details.

Notifications

Maintenance and mileage reminders are scheduled on your device. No reminder data is sent to us.

Information on the website

Waitlist

If you join the waitlist, we store your email address, the Tacoma generation you choose (if any), and the date you signed up. We use it only to tell you about the beta and the launch. To be removed, use the unsubscribe link in any email or write to support@tacomalog.app, and we'll delete it.

Server logs

Like most websites, our server may record basic technical information such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to keep the site secure and working. We keep these logs for no longer than 30 days. The website doesn't use advertising cookies or third-party trackers.

What we don't do

Service providers

We rely on a few providers to run TacomaLog: Apple (App Store, iCloud), TelemetryDeck (anonymous analytics), NHTSA (VIN and recall lookups you request) and our web host. Each handles data only as needed to provide its service.

Keeping and deleting your data

You control your truck records. Deleting a truck or a record in the app removes it from your device and your iCloud. Deleting the app removes local data; you can remove the iCloud copy in your iPhone's Settings under your Apple Account, iCloud, Manage Storage. For waitlist or feedback data, email us and we'll delete what we hold.

Children

TacomaLog isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you. Because we hold very little, the easiest way is to email support@tacomalog.app and we'll respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If we change how TacomaLog handles data, we'll update this page and its effective date. For significant changes, we'll also let you know in the app.
